Love Needs Expression

Matthew 22:34-40

The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:

36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Bee's Thoughts:

Christmas is just over yesterday. So much celebration and gifts-giving might have mired the fact that love is not just a once-a-year affair. True love is practical, and is to be expressed thoughout the year round.

"we know that genuine caring reaches beyond feelings to action. Caring, like steam or electricity, isn't worth much unless something happens as a result of it. Love without deeds is useless, just as talent not demonstrated in creative ways is wasted. Both must be expressed or they are no better than a myth.

Because we can't do everything, we often don't do anything. If you want to be a loving person, don't start by taking on the needs of the whole world. Start with caring about one person and build from there." —Haddon Robinson (Daily Bread)

What Robinson said above has put in words what I think in my mind, "Start with caring about one person and build from there." No wonder Jesus said, "Love your neighbor" instead of "love the whole world". Neighbour can be the one just next to us, or the one we contact frequently.

Dear Lord,
Thank You for the reminder to love in pratical ways. Yes I know I can't express my love to the whole world in pratical ways. Please help me continue to express practical love to the few You have placed in my heart, though sometimes I do get very discouraged and tired when my efforts to express love don't seem to be appreciated. Let me be wise as to in whom I should devote my limited time and resouces to love and care, so I won't waste away what You have given me. In Jesus' precious Name I pray. Amen.


Tommy's Thoughts:
I really have put this down in writing, because the thought been in my head for quite some time now.

Lately, the Holy Spirit, circumstances and people I encountered have shown me in ways how I can love an invisible God. I’ve also been given tests and opportunities to practice this with all my heart, soul and mind. I know God is telling me that right now, this moment of my life, this very season, is a chance for me to learn and practice how to truly submit and devote my life to Him and to love others genuinely and with respect. There has been never a better time than it is now.

What else is more important to know, follow and practice the first and greatest commandment of all? It’s no longer a matter of “How can I love Him?”, it’s about “When am I showing my love for Him?”. As listed in my previous devotion, they are the first few things I can do to show my love for Him. I don’t need to wait for a feeling of warm and fuzziness to come in order to start doing them.

The second, to love others as myself. To be aware of those close to me that are in needs and to show genuine care and love for them. Always offers sincere helps and ways to build them up with words and actions. To encourage and pray for them.

Lord, help me to do all these and more as I submit my life to You. Thank You Lord for teaching me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

First Breath

Colossians 1:15-20

The Supremacy of Christ
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Tommy's Thoughts:
Almighty Jesus, I acknowledge You as Creator, Sustainer and the end of all there is. Only You are sufficient for my every needs. You are the only one that can transform my heart and life. You are the only one that can provides true peace, freedom, guidance, strength and happiness along my walk.

Lord Jesus, I pray to You to remind me always on why You were sent to us. Why You died on the Cross for us. Help me to understand that everything was created for You; to bring praise and honor to You. Help me to understand Your amazing love for us and that nothing is possible without You. Help me also to be grateful knowing every day as a gift from You.

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that You are Supreme; there is no other above You in my life. I will put You first in my thinking, work, families, activities, relationships, goals and dreams. I will trust in You to make things right for me. Thank you Lord Jesus, Amen.


Bee's Thoughts:

Just got back from volunteering at the "Celebrate Christmas in Singapore event". I am dead tired since I have to rush to church in the morning, then rush to report for volunteers duty after lunch and stay at the event till about 10.30 p.m.

It was a good experience. The side benefits of being a volunteer were firstly, I got to shake the hands with the VVIPs, including the Guest of Honour, BG George Yeo (Minister for Foreign Affairs). :) Secondly, I got to watch the whole performance with unblocked view. :P

Thank God for the perfect weather, though December is a raining month in Singapore. It has been raining the last few days but not today. The performances by Christians from different countries were fantastic! Somehow, the gospel of Christ was preached in a very clear way tonight. The glory of Christ was shown through the dances, singings and testimonies right in the heart of Singapore's Orchard Road. It was like having a Mega Church where more than 20,000 people congregate. Wow!!

Oh, why am I sharing the above in this devotion?

Well, I see the relationship between sharing the true meaning of Christmas in such a grand way (never happen before) and "the Supremacy of Christ"... "all things were created by him and for him". So the whole Christmas events at Orchard Road, even all the effort the volunteers have put into them, are for Him alone. For Christmas is Jesus. Through Christ all things are 'reconciled'. People from all over the world can come together in harmony to celebrate Christ. It's so marvelous!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Today is Your Day. Today, the reason of Your birth was clearly told to so many people in Singapore and also in many countries. Because Christmas is all about You, so You have stopped the rain today that the events can be carried out smoothly. Thank You for the huge crowd who turned up. May You speak to their hearts and let them know that they too can be part of this universal Family in Christ. I pray that what they have seen and heard will remain in their hearts and bear fruits.

Thank You for answering my prayers for tonight's event, Lord Jesus, because I pray for Your glory to shine. Amen.

The Call Of The Present

Luke 1:26-38

The Birth of Jesus Foretold
26 In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."

29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."

34 "How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"

35 The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[a] the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. 37 For nothing is impossible with God."

38 "I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her.

Bee's Thoughts:

What is impossible with men is possible with God. Otherwise, He is not God. With that assurance, Mary obeyed the call of God to be the choosen woman to bear the child Jesus, though it seemed impossible and embarassing for her to do it. With that obedience she made history... her story continues year after year...

Dear Lord, thank You that with You nothing is impossible. Help me to have faith in You fully and to be willing to do Your will. May this Christmas be very special for me... let me see Your glory, Jesus. Amen.


Tommy's Thoughts:

God, You are calling me to really trust in You with hope for something greater and better. You are calling me to be strong; not to give in to meaningless, selfish things that will hinder my walk with You. You are calling me to be patient and to wait. You are calling me to be joyful and happy for where You have me now and for what Christ has done for me. You are calling me to really understand what Christ has done for me. You are calling me to always keep myself pure as a living sacrifice to You. You are calling me to spend my time and money wisely. You are calling me to be always aware of the needs of others. You are calling me to plan things. You are calling me to take good care of my health and have enough rest everyday. You are calling me to be careful with words; to use words that build others up and not tear them down. You are calling me to constantly seek to understand Your words. You are calling me to remember why You’d send Your Son to us.

Lord, these are what You are calling me to do. Thank you for reminding them to me. Thank you for Your care and love in planning the best for me. Guide me Lord to submit and surrender myself to Your will with trust and obedience. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Knowing God Personally

Exodus 33:7-17

The Tent of Meeting
7 Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the "tent of meeting." Anyone inquiring of the LORD would go to the tent of meeting outside the camp. 8 And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose and stood at the entrances to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent. 9 As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the LORD spoke with Moses. 10 Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to his tent. 11 The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.

Moses and the Glory of the LORD
12 Moses said to the LORD, "You have been telling me, 'Lead these people,' but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, 'I know you by name and you have found favor with me.' 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people."

14 The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."

15 Then Moses said to him, "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. 16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?"

17 And the LORD said to Moses, "I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name."

Bee's Thoughts:

As I read the above passage, I felt like crying... it's so beautiful a picture! Moses has a very intimate relationship with God... I wish to have that too.

1. God spoke to Moses "face to face, as a man speaks with his friend." (v11) -- Wow! How does it feel like to have the Prime Minister or the King speaking to me like a friend? Now, this is an almighty God!

2. God would "do the very thing" Moses asked and prayed for. (v17) -- If I know God will answer all my prayers, I better be careful of what I ask... I become accountable to them.

3. God was "pleased with" Moses (v17) -- How do I please God? Yesterday's devotion says "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." (Roman 12:2) then we will know what is pleasing to God.

4. God knew Moses "by name." (v17) -- Not a stranger but a personal friend. I believe God also know me by name... He knows me even before I was born. Thanks, God!

How can Christians be different from the rest of the world? By having God's "presence" and "rest" with them (v14). If we know God is just next to us, wouldn't we be more careful with our behaviour and wouldn't we feel safe and restful? Yes, we will. But when we sin, God's presence leaves us and we feel restless.

Dear Lord, Thank You for showing me how I can have an intimate relationship with You too, just like Moses. I know You have been speaking to me daily as I devote my time to read Your Word, and I have been conversing with You in my daily prayers too. But I want more, Lord... I want You to speak to me "like a friend", to "teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you". Thank You for always hearing my prayers. Amen.

What To Give God

Romans 12:1-8

Living Sacrifices
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

Bee's Thoughts:

At my JOE blog, I shared about my thoughts on "My Christmas Gifts" and touched on the 5 cards I sent out this Christmas to 5 special people in my life.

Now, what can I give to God if I say that I love Him or that I am learning to love Him more? Firstly, I am learning to give Him my time... not my left-over or sleepy time, but the freshiest part of my day, as my devoted time for Him. Yet is that enough?

The above verses say I also need to give God my body... i.e. my hands, legs, mouth, eyes, ears, etc. I have to use my body to carry out my God-given function and gift in order to please God, not to please men. I also need to have a renewed mind that thinks differently from the world so that I will know the will of God.

Dear Lord, thank You for reminding me today that I not only need to give You my time, but also my body. Take all of me, Lord. Let me be the "living scarifice" to You this Christmas. Amen.


Tommy"s Thoughts:

Been so busy buying and wrapping gifts for this coming Christmas. A whole long list of people to give to; each with different kind of gift I’ve been thinking for quite some time. Trying to give what most probably they love to have or need. I realized today after reading the passage that I forget to include God in that list. I do not even have Him in my mind at all. So much of Him being the most important person in my life!

Forgive me O Lord that at times I think of You being a God that is impersonal and distant away. Forgive me also Lord, for sometime not giving You my best and not giving to You first. There are so many ways I can give to You, my mind, my time, and also my body as a living sacrifice for You. Thank you Lord for giving me various gifts that can be use to serve other in needs. Help me to not only remember these gifts but to carry them out in words and action, pleasing to You.

Lord, thanks to the Holy Spirit on the great idea for a special gift to You. I will give You this long-term “gift“starting this Christmas. Amen.

White Space

2 Timothy 4:6-8

6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

Bee's Thoughts:

What "White Space"?... me wondering again. But what Paul said in the above verses are what I longed for. I want to be able to say all those things he said when it's time for me to go to my heavenly Father.

The Christian life is like a warfare which we have to "fight, like a marathon "race" we have to run, and a life of "faith" we have to press on even when we can't see.

Yes, I have been on these for many years already... sometimes I do feel weary, discouraged, lonely, abnormal, abandoned by the world. Yet aren't champions, such as Melissa Moon (above picture), feel the same way too? Don't we also have to forsake others when we deem something/someone more important than the rest? We only have 24-hours a day each, so we need to prioritize and conserve our energy for the important things/people in our life.

"When you come to life's end, will there be important things left undone? Will that white space bear silent testimony to goals you never reached, good habits (like consistent Bible reading) you never formed, help you never gave, kind things you thought about doing but never did? Will a sizeable empty space say that you intended to develop a deeper relationship with God, but that a close intimacy remained an unfulfilled ideal? Or will others be able to say of you that you "finished the race, [and] kept the faith"? (2 Timothy 4:7)." - (Daily Bread)

Very good food for thoughts indeed.

Dear Lord, thank You for helping me fight the spiritual enemy, to run this course of life and to have faith in You. Thank You for the strength You gave me, the people who came to encourage me, the messages I heard to reassure me. Thank You that "the crown of righteousness" is awaiting for me when I have completed my "race". Let me not lose hope in You, Lord. Amen.

Tommy's Thoughts:

I need to start waking up everyday expecting and longing for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. This way, I can prioritize things better and shed away meaningless, time-wasting activities. A lot of times, I’m so caught up with these activities and pursuits; without a single thought of its value in light of eternity and God’s kingdom. Sometimes, I was even running backward in the race thinking there is way too much time to play catch up later. Other time, I just give up the fight without even trying.

Lord, thank you for today passage. Thank you for reminding me about the glory You have promised for me if I would to obey your commands, believe and trust in You for everything. Lord, help me to stop procrastinating and begin living my life filled with hope; to really serve, care and love others through words and actions; to be constantly aware of wrong attitudes and desires; to grow healthily in the fruits of the Spirit through situations, challenges and opportunities; to keep myself pure as a living sacrifice for the Lord; and most of all to chat with You everyday. I pray all these in the name of Your only Son, Jesus Christ, Amen.

A Tale Of Two Slaves

Acts 1:1-9

Jesus Taken Up Into Heaven

1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. 3 After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."

6 So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"

7 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

Acts 1:17-18

17 he was one of our number and shared in this ministry."

18 (With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.

Bee's Thoughts:

"A Tale Of Two Slaves" sounds vague to me when I first read the above passage. I was wondering what God wants to tell me in this devotion. I asked Him.

Then when I read v17-18 again, it dawned upon me that Judas was one of the followers of Christ and also shared in the ministry with the disciples. Yet he betrayed Christ out of greed. He is one good illustration of yesterday's devotion about those "who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain" (1 Timothy 6:5). There are always 'wolves' amongst the 'sheep'. We have to be very careful of such people and we also need to be careful not become one of them.

On the contrary, Paul was once a very highly educated and successful person by world's standard. Yet when he met Christ, he gave up all that he had to become a willing 'slave' of Christ.

So what does God want to tell me today?

I have been feeling quite down as I felt that my high education and my past successes in my career seem going downhill lately. I don't know why it should happen to me. But today I get the assurance that when God wants to use me, He might allow things to happen to change my mindset, strip me of my human ability so I will fully rely on Him. And when great things happen the glory will fully go to God instead of me.

Lately, I have learnt that instead of me telling someone of my concern about a certain 'shortcoming', I should pray daily so that the Holy Spirit will convict that person of the matter, just like in the case of Tommy's devotion time. Yes, God spoke to Tommy and convicted him about prioritizing. I didn't say anything about it to him. Praise God!

Dear Lord, thank You for giving me the assurance that I can be like Paul, giving up my successes in life for the sake of a higher prize that is within Your will. Thank You that in whatever circumstances I am in You have a plan for me. Let me be willing to trust and obey Your calling. Speak to me more concerning it and show me Your direction for me, Lord. Amen.


Tommy's Thoughts:
Lord God Almighty, I acknowledge that You are always in control and You always knows what is best for me presently and in the coming future. I need to say this because I always forget it and this forgetfulness does lead me into problems. Lord, I confessed also that at time I’m greatly discouraged and troubled by things that happened in front of me at that moment. There are also times I asked when You will restore Your Kingdom; when all these constant battle and struggles will ends.

But thank you Lord for the Holy Spirit, who never stops to comfort and open my eyes to You and Your promises. Lord, through today passage, I’ve learnt clearly now that You’ve called me to be Your witness to the world today while waiting joyously for Your return. As Christian, I am to be the light and salt of the world. Guide me Lord through the Holy Spirit that I will always remember this in my mind. I pray to You Lord to give me strength, wisdom, peace and hope for everything I’ll encounter in the coming days. Thank You Lord and I will trust only in You always, AMEN!!

Respect

1 Timothy 6:1-6

1 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered. 2 Those who have believing masters are not to show less respect for them because they are brothers. Instead, they are to serve them even better, because those who benefit from their service are believers, and dear to them. These are the things you are to teach and urge on them.

Love of Money
3 If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4 he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Bee's Thoughts:

On the one hand the Bible talks about "respect" towards our superiors at work, yet on the other hand it also warns us of some, professed 'Chirstians' or 'Pastors', who use "false doctrine" that isn't "goldly teaching" in the business market places. These people use Christianity as a cover up for personal gain as they "think that godliness is a means to financial gain". They preach 'prosperity gospel' to the extend they become more unscrupulous than non-believing businessmen. *sigh*

I have personal encounter of such a 'Pastoring' businessman. It's really sad. He has to close some of his many businesses as God will not bless his businesses done using unscrupulous means.

"But godliness with contentment is great gain" (v6), the Bible says. Respecting those who are above us in authority at our workplaces is one way of godliness. Contentment is the key to success in life. If one becomes too greedy over finacial wealth and forget about being godly and be contented with what one has, one will become stressful and might lose his personal health and even those people close to him/her one day.

Dear Lord, help me to live a godly life and be contented with the small things or few people You have given me. May your joy fill my heart always even though I might not be rich or have the luxuries of life. Thank You for everything, Lord. Amen.


Tommy's Thoughts:

First of all, thank you Lord for helping me to complete my job with excellent result and exceeded the client’s expectation. It’s all because of You and Bee’s encouraging prayers that has make this possible. Thank You, Lord! (and of course to you Bee, my ultra-best friend!!)

I have been really busy lately; in fact, the last few days, I’ve been really restless after looking at the list of things to be done by end of the year. Also, been skipping hours of sleep and working till the wee hours of the night.

Thank You Lord for today passage; as I can see my work is clearly affected by all these. Like today, I’d problem in concentrating on my projects; jumping from one project to another without really getting things properly done. I know now if I would to continue in this way, I will definitely unable to perform well in my work.

Lord, thank you for teaching me to show respect for my employer by working smart and diligently at my workplace. Help me Lord to prioritize my time effectively in the coming days and always have enough rest. Guide me Lord to plan my things well and doing only what matters most, and last but not least, to devote my time to You everyday. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen!

Born In Us

Micah 5:1-5

A Promised Ruler From Bethlehem

2 "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times."

3 Therefore Israel will be abandoned
until the time when she who is in labor gives birth
and the rest of his brothers return
to join the Israelites.

4 He will stand and shepherd his flock
in the strength of the LORD,
in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God.
And they will live securely, for then his greatness
will reach to the ends of the earth.

5 And he will be their peace...

Bee's Thoughts:

The above vesrses are the prophecy of Christ's birth. When Jesus was born in the little town of Bethleham, things changed in that town as prophesied.

Yes, things change wherever Jesus is! It doesn't matter who I am or what I am, but it matters who is with me and in me, isn't it? When Jesus is in my heart, things should change too. Yet many times, I may only know these things in my head and not in my experience. Why?

I got the answer from the Pastor's message during this morning Church Service. He said there is a difference between our "position" or "status" as a Christian and our "practice" as a Christian. In "position" we are already victorious, as Christ has done everything for us. But in "practice" we may not be yet. That's why though we are already saved in Christ the Bibles says, " work out your own salvation with fear and trembling," (Philippians 2:12) In "practice", we experience many highs and lows of life... so we need to constantly remind each other of our "position" as a Christian and act like one.

Ahha... that explains my moods and feelings that constantly come to shake me off from my "position" in Christ. Yes, we need fellow Christian brothers and sisters who care enough for us to remind and encourage us to live as children of the King.


Dear Lord, thank You for this revelation as to why I am constantly affected by things and people around me though I am Your child. I know where I stand in Christ, but I need encouragement and reminders to live a victorious life too. May You send to me people who care enough to run this race with me. Let me also be the one to encourage and remind someone of his/her position in Christ too. Amen.

Bee's Thoughts:

Yesterday, a thought suddenly came into my mind... "I HAVE NO MORE WILL TO LIVE." I felt down, hopeless, aimless, lost... I felt I have lost everything I ever gained...

I knew that that thought came from the devil and I tried to fight it. I guess that thought came as a result of what I have been through for the last 2 years. I was pretty happy and contended about 2 years ago. But along the way my experiences with certain people I came in contact with cause me to feel very drained and tired emotionally and physically, and in turn they affected my studies and career as well.

Today's devotion is very appropriate for me. Jesus said to me, "Because I live, you also will live." (v19). How wonderful! Yes, I may have no more will to live... yet I live because Jesus lives. Amen!

That's the amazing part of reading the Bible and doing devotion everyday. God's words can give life to the 'dead' through "the Holy Spirit", who "will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." (v 26).

Jesus also said to me, "Peace I leave with you" (v27). Yes, I need that peace in my heart now while I look forward to His promise, "I am coming back to you." (v28). I don't know when... I wish it's now. Nevertheless, I know He will keep His promise.


Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for Your words today. Thank You that I can live because You live. Come and heal my troubled heart and give me Your peace now. I miss You so much, Lord. I am waiting for You to come back as promised. Mainwhile, let Your Holy Spirit be my Comfortor to comfort me when I am sorrowful and down. I ask all these in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

Job Opening for Practical Love

Romans 12:9-16

Bee's Thoughts:

Ah, I was wondering what "job opening" I am going to hear from God in today's devotion. But as I read the above passage I know what He is trying to say. There are 'job vacancies' for people who would love in practical ways.

Very often people 'love' in words and not deeds because they don't know how to love practically or they think that love must comes with a 'warm feeling'. The moment they lose that 'warm feeling' they stop caring for the one they used to care before.

Perhaps we need to relearn the meaning of love. Maybe a helpful way to relearn is to replace the word "love" with "care" as we don't have problem in associating "care" with actions. Example, instead of saying "I love you", we may say "I care for you", or "I want to give you...", or "I want to do this for you", or "I want to be your listening ear", etc.

In fact, when we practically and consistently do something for someone, he/she will KNOW and FEEL that we love them even if we never say it. In another words, the 'feeling' part is for the other person (receiver) rather than for us (giver)... but we tend to reverse it. Sounds complicating?

I don't usually 'fall in love'... I grow to love. How I grow to love someone is when I receive constant care from that person over a period of time. He might not say he loves me, but I KNOW and can FEEL it, and deeply appreciate what he does for me. When I grow to love that person I continue to care even when that person has stopped caring for me. I choose to love though my heart feels otherwise.

So love is also an "attitude" like those mentioned in the passage above. Love must be...

devoted,
honor the other above self,
zealeous,
fervor as in serving God,
joyful in hope,
patient in affliction,
faithful in prayer,
share,
hospitable,
bless those who persecute you,
rejoice with those who rejoice;
mourn with those who mourn,

My heart skipped a beat when I saw the title of this morning devotion. Why?

For the last two days, I have been receiving articles from the Daily Encounter about "Words". I have written my thoughts about them, "It's Only Words" and "Action Words", at my JOE blog (Journal Of an Educator). And now again.... it's about "Words". Three days in a row... God must have a very important message for me. What is God trying to tell me then?

Dear, Lord, I know You have something to impress me this morning. Before I begin my devotion, I pray that Your Holy Spirit will reveal the truth to me. Amen.

Now, the above passage asks Christians to:
1. pray, be watchful, be thankful (v2)
2. pray for open door for the gospel, the message to be clear (v3,4)
3. be wise in the way we act toward unbelievers, be opportunitist (v5)
4. speak with grace, words seasoned with salt, wisdom to answer everyone (v6)

Yes, our effort in doing the first 3 items would be null and void if we do badly in item 4.

How should we speak? With "grace" and "seasoned with salt". Salt is a preservative, it heals, and makes food tastes better. Here we are not talking about flattering or be hypocritical. We are to "speak the truth in love". When we love, we don't want to hurt a person yet we want to be honest. So we need the art of speaking with "grace", not harsh, and our words should heal the other person as well. A delicate balance isn't it? Wisdom is needed here. Something I need to keep learning.


Dear Lord, thank You for today's message. Let Your Holy Spirit be my mouth piece, let me speak words of life and not words of death to the people around me. Help me speak with Your grace and mercy, to encourage and to heal the hearts of the listeners even if I need to speak the truth that isn't favorable. Most of all, let Your love be always be in my heart. Amen.

I like the above Psalm very much. In fact it is also a song we sing in church too. Whenever I am in distress and think of 'running' and hide myself from this world's troubles I think of Psalm 91. I know I can't physically hide from people or the source of heartaches, but I can 'run' to my Shelter (God) to take a break.

Dear Lord,
Thank You for the people You have brought to comfort me when I am down and in distress.
Thank You for the joy and gladness they gave me even though they are short-lived.
Thank You that even when these people don't care anymore, You are still there for me.
Thank You that You are my Shelter and my Hiding Place always.

The Birth of Jesus Foretold

26 In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."

29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."

34 "How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"

35 The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

Bee's Thoughts:

Again I have learnt some principles from today's devotion.

1. Before God can use us for a major task, we must have found "favor" in God first, just like Mary had (v28, 30)... A life that is pleasing to God is important.

2. God uses unconventional method to fulfill His major goal, such as the virgin birth to bring forth Christ to earth (v31, 34, 35)... It can be quite scary to be told to do something off the norm.

3. The Holy Spirit is the One who is doing the work, all we need to do is to obey and fear not (v30,35)... We need to rely on the Holy Spirit to do miracles.

I have heard of the argument that since God used Mary for the birth of Christ, therefore, she must be great enough to be worshipped next to Christ. But from what we read above, we know that Mary was chosen (can be another virgin) because she lived a life that's pleasing to God (highly favored) and that she is willing to be the 'instrument' of God. She did nothing other than being willing. The Holy Spirit did all the works... a miracle! Mary is as human as we are, but Jesus Christ is God incarnated. So we only worship Christ Jesus and not Mary.

Likewise, our spiritual birth or regeneration is the work the Holy Spirit and not by being born to a Christian family. To be a Christian we "must be born again" (John 3:3-8).


Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You were born supernaturally and we too can be "born again" into Your supernatural Family by being willing. Help me find favor in Your sight and to be a willing 'instrument' to fulfill Your purposes too. Though sometimes what You want me to do might seem 'crazy' or unheard of, let me not be afraid to do it, just like Mary did. I pray that I will know Your plan for my life this Christmas. Amen.


Tommy's Thoughts:
While having my lunch that day, two of my friends were talking about some Christian evangelists who visited them last weekend. They seem very agitated and irritated by them. One said, “It’s so convoluted the things they said, they are really scary.” The other friend agreed with him and added “They just don’t let us know what they are trying to get from us…their hidden agendas”.

I don’t blame them to think that way. I used to be exactly like them. I also have heard countless horror stories about “ways” some Christians spread the Good News. It is sad to see how Christians our self are giving Christianity such a bad name. I may be wrong, but I personally don’t believe in door-to-door quick evangelism. Although the intention is all good and right; but somehow it will never work if people are not prepare in that short frame of time.

I think a better approach to evangelism is to be a genuinely right person our self and let God do the rest. If we live our everyday life like Christ would, others might see the God that lives in us. It’s through our actions & attitude like how we treat others, how we handle things, how we think and speak; how we care for others, how sincere and honest we are, how we helps others and how we love others. Through time, people will be ready to open their heart and come to you themselves and ask about the God we believe in. And, that’s the time we share Jesus to them.

Thank you Lord, for guiding me to be a right person everyday. I acknowledge that You are in control of all things in my life. I confess Lord that I still have bad habits and attitude that need to be changed. Help me to do that Lord. Make me be aware of how You can use me to be Your place of entrance into the world today. Amen.

Joseph and Potiphar's Wife

2 The LORD was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. 3 When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did, 4 Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. 5 From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the LORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field. 6 So he left in Joseph's care everything he had; with Joseph in charge, he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate.
Now Joseph was well-built and handsome, 7 and after a while his master's wife took notice of Joseph and said, "Come to bed with me!"

8 But he refused. "With me in charge," he told her, "my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. 9 No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?" 10 And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.

11 One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside. 12 She caught him by his cloak and said, "Come to bed with me!" But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house....

19 When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, "This is how your slave treated me," he burned with anger. 20 Joseph's master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined.
But while Joseph was there in the prison, 21 the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. 22 So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. 23 The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care, because the LORD was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.

Bee's Thoughts:

Today's deveotion let me learn some practical Christian workplace principles from Joseph's life.

1. In 'bad' times God has His blessinge awaiting for us, i.e. blessings in disguise (v2)... So I need to trust God to know what's best for me even when situation looks 'bleak' at times.

2. God blesses others through us and because of us (v5)... I can make a difference in people's life by godly living.

3. Promotion at work comes from God as God makes us find 'favour' in our boss' eyes (v6)... I need not worry about my career advancement, I just need to do my best all the time and leave the 'promotion' to God.

4. Beware of temptaions at work as there can be seductions in any forms (bribery, cheating, illicit relationship, etc) to cause us to sin (v7)... I need to be on guard at all times.

5. Never be alone with the opposite sexes so as to prevent temptations and gossip (v7)... Don't give the devil any chance to make us sin.

6. Flee from tempation and sins when they come (v10).... Running away from temptaions to sin is not being weak but being wise.

7. Even when we are 'fired' by our boss for doing things righteously and ethically, we need not worry as God will still be with us (v19-21)... Always stay ethical at work, for God is with me.

8. When one 'door' is closed, God will open another door for us (v22-23)... I need to trust in God's providence at all times.

Dear Lord, thank You for today's lessons. Thank You for Your reminder and encouragement through the story of Joseph. Let me do what is right in Your eyes at all times. Amen.



Tommy's Thought:
I used to relax when my boss is not around. I spend time surfing the net, emailing friends, chatting and doing all kind of things that totally not related to my work. And when he’s back, I rushed back to my place pretending busy doing my work. I was horribly dishonest; I cheated and lied to my boss in this way. I also came up with all kind of reasons to justify this irresponsible action of mine.

When I get to know Christ and knowing the person He is, I’ve learnt to be an honest person. I’ve stop all those bad habits and diligently concentrate on my work ever since. I pray to God every day to help me do my work well in the office whether the boss is around or not, went to a trip oversea or on holiday. Through this change, I managed to equip myself better when a tough assignment comes along. At the end of the day, I can see God smiling at me saying, “Good work, son!”


Thank you Lord, first of all, for allowing me to be able to do this devotion despite the incredibly tight and busy schedule I have for this week. You have been really great to me, with Your constant encouragement and wisdom shown to me when I needed them most. And thank you Bee for your constant prayer for me :). Lord, I pray to You for strength, creativity, and patience when working on projects and also dealing with people. Help me to be able to finish my job on time with satisfying result. Thank You, Lord for all these. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Confronted By The Cross

Luke 23:33-43

33 When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One." 36 The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar and said, "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself." 38 There was a written notice above him, which read:|sc THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" 40 But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."

42 Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

43 Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

Tommy's Thoughts:
Few years back; a non-believer friend questioned sarcastically his Christian friends about why God, if he really exists, no longer perform His miracle to the people like He used to do during Moses time. He said if He do that now, every person will believe in Him and people will obey Him and stay away from evil; the world will become a better place to live in. Where’s the miracle nowadays? He asked. And his Christian friend answered that Jesus is THE miracle today. At that time, being a really young Christian, I was unable to grasp the meaning of that, but I know now exactly what they meant.

There is no greater sin than the sin of unbelief. When pride closes our heart from opening it to God, we will be blinded from the amazing truth that we are free and longer a slave to sin and death when Christ died on the cross. Our old self who was filled with sin, grieve, anguish, unhappiness, lies, condemnation, selfishness, discontentment, guilt and all the other loads that we have been carrying for so many years will die on the Cross together with Christ if we were to believe in Him. When Christ risen from the death, we too, are reborn with a new self in Him.

But, I used to ask how do I do that, to put to death my old self? Though I believe in Christ and wanted so much to obey Him, but I do not do what I want to do but do the very thing that I hate, I felt so trap. Obviously, I did not know what I was doing. It took me quite some time to realize that I can’t put to death for something that already been dead 2000 years ago! Paul asked, "Are we to continue to sin that grace might increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?" (Romans 6:1, 2).

When we understand this concept, we will put down all our methods and ways to stop us from sinning and start believing we can be alive and free in Christ by submitting to Him and to resist the devil. In this way, we will see our self free from the endless cycle of sins. Our responsibility then is to walk by faith in God and His truth, relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, and we will no longer give in to sin. When we believe this today, Jesus will look at us and says, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

Thank you Lord, for teaching me to walk by faith. I will push away Satan’s accusation that places me under guilt and condemnation for sins which God has totally forgiven. I will always remember what You has done for me in Christ and what it means to be Your child. Amen!

Yesterday's devotion brought us "The Big News" of Christ's birth but in today's devotion we are "Confronted By The Cross". Jesus was born to die... yet not many people appreciate His death, just like one of the criminals who sarcastically said to Jesus to save Himself and them from punishment.

But for those who could appreciate what Jesus did and accept His salvation, just like "the other criminal", Jesus promised "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."



Dear Lord Jesus, remember me now and when You come again. Remember all those who have faith in You and honor Your name. For You said that when we confess You before men, You will also confess us before Your Father in heaven. When we give You our time, You will give us Yours too. Thank You for this promise. Amen.

Bee's Thoughts:

The birth of a child always brings new hope to a family. It signifies life, growth, learning, interaction, activities, etc.

With the birth of Jesus Christ, we have hope too. His birth was prophesied in the Old Testament and was fulfilled in the New Testament. The Child has grown up and has finished what He has to do on earth. He has died on the cross for sinners and has ascended to heaven, but will come again to bring those who trusted in Him to be with Him forever.

Christmas is God with us

Christmas is love


Dear Lord Jesus, thank You that Christmas is all about You. Help us celebrate this Christmas with You as the "Host"and not a "Guest". Amen.

Philippians 2:5-11

Bee's Thoughts:

One's attitude is more important than one's aptitude
as one's attitude will determine one's altitude.
One's attitude is shown in one's gratitude
to those who have shared in one's solitude.

One's attitude that is humble and meek
will bring honor that one doesn't seek.
One's attitude that is same as Christ's
will receive the glory promised as prize.

No matter how smart or how wealthy one is, if one has the wrong attitude, one will never go far. Nobody likes to deal with arrogant characters.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
(1 Corinthians 13:1-3)

Jesus Christ has shown us what it means to be humble. Though He is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, yet He came down to earth to be just like us... all because of love.

No wonder the Bible says love "is not proud" and is "not self-seeking". The attitude of love takes away our pride and our self-centeredness. Very often when we love someone, we are willing to do things for the person we normally won't do for others. We are willing to bare our soul, show our weaknesses and be vulnerable to that person we love. Yes, love makes us humble.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for showing me what it means to be humble. Let me have Your attitude, Lord, this Christmas. Let me be willing to remove my pride and has the attitude of love from above. Amen.



Tommy's Thoughts:

I felt really grateful whenever I think of God sending His Son to us, not only for the salvation but also giving us a perfect role model in our life. Before this I’m so blind and unaware of how I should respond and act in any situations. Most of the time, I responded in the wrong way without consciously knowing it. This mainly has to do with my self-centered and impatience attitude.

As I know more about Christ through His Word, I saw how selfish and boastful a person I was in the past. As I learnt about how Jesus humbled himself to serve and die for others, I began to see how much I need to be like Him.

Thank you Lord again for teaching me to be a gentle, meek and compassionate person; to stop being boastful and full of pride but to humble myself, be aware of the needs of others, and to serve them with a genuine and caring heart. Amen.

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Bee's Thoughts:

I woke up early this morning automatically without the alarm clock. Decided to made a wakeup call to a friend and wanted to do my devotion in the morning after that. However, I was distracted by small little things here and there and forgotten about my devotion till evening. Now I know why... 'cos the devotion today is on the "armour of God"... teaching me how to have warfare with the devil.

I really need to be on guard all the time and don't let the devil lure me away from what is important. How to "be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power"?

I need to "put on the full armor of God"... for the devil has lots of "schemes" to draw me away from God.

What is the "armour of God" then?

1. waist ... "belt of truth"... to help us "stand firm"
2. chest... "breastplate of righteousness"
3. feet... "gospel of peace"
4. protection... "shield of faith"
5. head... "helmet of salvation"
6. hand... "sword of the Spirit", which is the "word of God"
7. be alert... "pray in the Spirit on all occasions"

Hmmn... this reminds me of what my Japanese friend once told me about "kendo" (Japanese sword-fighting). He has learnt this art of self-defence and told me that in defending himself, the "standing" position is very important. If one cannot stands firm, one can be attacked easily. To stand firm one has to stay cool and concentrate.

Aha...no wonder the Bible keeps telling us to stand firm.

It's very natural for us to grow weary after a while and lose our concentration. Therefore, the Bible reminds us to always "pray in the spirit"... for only with the Spirit empowerment can we continuously stay alert and be on our guard. That's why Christians have to read the "word of God" (Bible) everyday... it's is our "sword". How can we fight without our weapon?


Thank You for the reminder, Lord. Help me to put on the whole armour of God, not half, so that I can fight in the spiritual warfare and win. Amen.



Tommy's Thoughts:
Paul talked about this fight that is not from the outside world or with other men, but within our self; the spiritual battle. It’s a battle that will really ruin and destroy our bodies and souls in the eternal darkness. The battle can be in the form of temptation, serious illness, self-pity, anger and grudges of others, coveting, and addictions like alcohol, drug, pornography, even pride.

I realized whenever a person comes closer to walk with God, the greater this battle will be; as it happened to me. It is somehow when we devote our life for God, Satan will be dead setting against us; we become a threat to his plan. He will use all kind of ways to weaken and cause us to fall.

Thank you Lord for your faithfulness and Your promise to be with us, that we will not fight this battle alone. I pray for all our brother and sister in Christ, to be always aware of all the critical elements in the armour of God needed for us to win this battle. May we all remember to put on faith, righteousness, and salvation; using the Word of God all the time and most importantly through constant prayers. Thank you Lord again for giving and teaching us ways to stand strong and be victorious in all our battles. Amen.

Forgotten In The Gifts

John 3:13-21

13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

Bee's Thoughts:
Hmmn... God knows our thoughts ya. I was just talking to a friend last night about "gifts" for Christmas, and today's devotions is about "gifts"too.

Yes, Christmas is just around the corner and people are busy buying "gifts" for others for various reasons. What reasons? It could be out of love, or out of obligation, or even out of ulterior motives to gain favour from bosses or customers. Well, whatever the reasons are we might have forgotten the reason for having Christmas.

I interpret "ChristMAS" as "Christ Must Always Shines". We have Christmas, because "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (v16). This is the best of best "gift" God has given to us.

Who else will ever give himself/herself as a"gift" to another? If there is such a person who will do that to me unconditionally, will I not be touched and will I not love such a person (unless I am a robot)? Surely I will... not sure about others. That's why the very moment I came to know of John 3:16, I gave my heart to Jesus.... that's the only right thing to do. And that's one decision that I have never regretted for making even when I was at the lowest pit of my life.


Thank You, Lord Jesus, for giving Yourself to me. May You shine through this Christmas at Orchard. May the world know that Christmas is You and not the gifts. Show us how we may love each other more this Christmas because Christmas is love. Amen.

Tommy's Thought:
When I was an early Christian, I simply can’t comprehend both the meaning of God sending His Son to save mankind and why Christ has to die on the cross to save us. I used to think I don’t need whatsoever saving, especially from God Himself. I thought I’ve lived as good a life as anyone else. I don’t see a need for Christ. Little did I know then, how broken I actually was. As God works His ways in me through the Spirit over the years, I soon saw all those “darkness” in me came to light; exposed slowly little by little right in front of me. Only through this, I later came to grasp how hopeless I was and the reason why God send His beloved Son to us.

Another reason was my starling realization that if God hasn’t sent His Son, we are destined to be lost and doomed. We all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. Christ is the only way to restore our relationship with God. Once we believe in Him, He will guide and move us to be a right and good person, naturally and genuinely. And that’s the right sequence of how a person should change; not through his own effort but through God’s grace and the Spirit working inside them; turning them away from darkness and walking into the light.

Lord, thank you very much for giving us the greatest Gift of all, Jesus Christ Your only begotten Son. As we celebrate the Good News that Christ is born this season, let us remember and spread the true meaning of Christmas and the blessing of God’s love, hope and peace for all of us. Amen.
